BIO

Marcus Summer is the moniker of Brazilian songwriter Marcus Vinicius De Sousa Pires.

Born in Brazil, the self taught writer made his debut at 17 with Trupe Atrupelo - a fantastical folkloric music and theater company, founded by the actress Sabrina Fittipaldi.

They ran a meteoric 3 year career that would influence and inspire most of his work and writing.

After the theater flame burned out, he decided he needed a new start and moved to the United States.

Along with expats Marcus Shrine and Pavle Pecev he formed the indie rock band The Marauders making the rounds of the South Florida scene.

During the pandemic Marcus released the EP Twenty Twenty. His solo music is dotted with vivid imagery and a melodic nostalgia as if played from an old tape recorder. Downtempo blends with indie rock layered with Bossa Nova chords from the heart of Brazil.

It plays like Samba - sad at times, but heartfeltly evoking the sentimental in each of us.
